It all started in the month of January.2000, when a pebble was turned with then ten to twelve families, now a church in honor of THE HOLY NAME OF JESUS . Today it stands tall with one hundred and fifty-four families and still more to come to the fore.

The spiritual needs of the Roman Catholics of R.R. Nagar was fulfilled either by a chapel in kengeri or the church in Gangodanahalli [St. Anthony’s] which was Off Mysore road. The Roman Catholics from R.R.Nagar chose St. Anthonys  church in Gangodanahalli to attend the Sunday masses.  It was very difficult to reach the church from the main road as there were no direct buses plying  to Gangodanhalli and auto drivers as usual demanding exorbitant money or just denying to  go to the place.  If this was the case of a normal Sunday mass, imagine the plight during the Lent season and other important Solemnities.!

By God's grace, Rev. Fr. Marian Miranda.,OFM.Cap. the then Parish priest of St. Anthony’s church ,along with  Bro.Victor Crasta were gracious enough to understand the problems of the Catholics' of R.R. Nagar.  They took the initiative and were in search of a suitable place to celebrate Sunday mass.  With the due consent of the then Archbishop Rev.Dr.Ignatius Pinto, the first mass was held in the House No.394., BEML Layout, R.R.Nagar of  Mr A. Joseph Anthony, who willingly obliged to render his house for the Sunday masses. The First Mass here was held on the 4th of February 2000. Initially the masses were held on alternate Sundays, and for the spiritual needs of the young ones, brothers from Deena Seva Ashram were invited for the Catechism services along with the masses.

In the second year the alternate Sunday masses were improvised to regular Sunday mass by the then parish priest, Rev.Fr.Vitus Prabhudas Pinto Ofm.Cap., and also permitted The Stations of the Cross during the Lent season .The Sacrament of Baptism was conferred too.

With the growing crowd, we felt the need for a bigger and permanent place of worship.  Our  repeated request  and  meeting with the Archbishop, Rev. Dr.Ignatius Pinto and Rev. Fr. T. Jabamalai, Vicar General, yielded fruit. Vicar General Rev. Fr. T. Jabamalai, along with Rev.Fr.Albert D'Silva.Ofm.Cap., started visiting several places, plots, bungalows and sites in and around Ideal Homes and BEML Layout. Ultimately, a bungalow NO.912- Ideal Homes Township was chosen which is located near the R.R Nagar Arch .

The bungalow was renovated and was used as church and presbytery.  The church was inaugurated on 2nd June 2002.  Rev.,Fr. Amruthraj was the first parish priest, then Rev.,Fr. Patrick Digby ,followed by

Rev.,Fr. Terence Mathew, who was instrumental in building the new church. The New Church was inaugurated and Blessed on the 31st October 2009., by  Rev.,Dr. Bernard Moras Archbishop of Bangalore. After Rev.Fr.Terence Mathew , Rev.Fr.Vinoo Fabian was the parish priest. After Fr.Vinoo Fabian , we had Fr. Antony Britto as the Parish Priest.

Now at present, The Parish Priest is Rev.,Fr. Vincent Santosh . We thank God and hope that

through his activities the church will grow in leaps and bounds.
