The Mission of the Sacred Heart Liturgy Commission is to enhance the worship of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit by promoting full, active, conscious and fruitful participation in liturgy at Sacred Heart Parish. While remembering to honor our parish traditions, we support the liturgical prayer life of the community in planning of all aspects of the parish liturgical celebrations so that they will be meaningful, uplifting, and prayerful as well as audibly and visually appealing. We nurture spiritual growth of ministers through our ongoing support and reflection on the blessings of ministries.

The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active co-operation in Mary’s and the Church’s work. The unit of the Legion of Mary is called a praesidium, which holds a weekly meeting, where prayer is intermingled with reports and discussion. Persons who wish to join the Legion must apply for membership in a Praesidium. The Legion sees as its priority the spiritual and social welfare of each individual. The members participate in the life of the parish through visitation of families, the sick, both in their homes and in hospitals and through collaboration in every apostolic and missionary undertaking sponsored by the parish. Every legionary is required to carry out a weekly apostolic work in the spirit of faith and in union with Mary.

We firmly believe that it is the primary responsibility of parents to teach their children about who God is, what his Word says, and how we should live in response to it, just as the book of Deuteronomy tells us. But as a church we know it is also our duty as the Body of Christ to enrich our children's lives by engaging with and reinforcing the knowledge of God that parents have instilled. We also acknowledge that no matter how hard we try, education is not the ultimate source of salvation, God is. In light of that, we trust that the Holy Spirit will use the teaching that children receive in their homes, at church, and elsewhere to bring about genuine faith that leads to salvation and a life lived for God's glory and their joy. With these principles in mind,

Preparations & Counceling

The Word of God is to be “proclaimed,” not merely “read.”  For Lectors to properly proclaim Scripture, they must be prepared.  The passages for each Sunday should be read, prayed with, and proclaimed aloud a number of times during the week before you are scheduled.  If you do not have a copy of the Workbook for Lectors, please pick up one in the sacristy or call the parish office.  Become familiar with the hints given in the Introduction of the workbook, and utilize the margin notes, as well as, the pronunciation aids given for each reading

The St Vincent de Paul Society was founded by a 20 year old student named Frederic Ozanamin 1833. It was established by like minded individuals who wished to put their faith into action.

This compassionate outlook, enthusiasm and vision continues today in our Catholic faith. There are thousands of people who every day share their time, care for humanity and energy to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged people here.

Associations are a great way to meet, care and pray for others.

Our association is the community outreach arm of our Parish. It was started with the aim of bringing hope and change to the lives of those in our parish. Through our care for the parishioners, we empower them to live their lives to the fullest. We work with youths, families and seniors, as well as the underprivileged in local communities. Our aim is to enable their sustained well-being, through providing time, prayer and befriending services. Through our programmes and activities, we seek to increase prayer life, Rosary, family prayers, fellowship without limitation of age, gender, race, nationality, religion or moral character.
